VIEWS: Reflections from International Confex & The Event Production Show

6 Mar 2026

Yesterday we spent day two at International Confex and the Event Production Show, diving into sessions across the Brand Experience Lab, Exhibition HQ and the Future Stage.

Next year, it’s safe to say both days will be firmly in the diary...

What stood out most was the sense that the conversation across the industry is evolving. The focus feels less about how big we can go and more about how intentional we can be in the experiences we design -- from sustainability and commercial accountability through to how inclusive our industry continues to become.

At the Brand Experience Lab, there was a clear shift toward experiences needing to carry genuine strategic weight, not just visual impact. Physical presence now has to justify its footprint creatively, commercially and environmentally. One particularly memorable session featured Adeola Daramola, MSc, whose perspective will stay with us for a while.

Over in Exhibition HQ, it was encouraging to see the appetite for smarter build systems, reuse, modular thinking and long-term value in partnerships. A panel session featuring Ele Mather and Bethany Lee reinforced the direction of travel -- particularly relevant for partners working in custom design and build.

Meanwhile, on the Future Stage at EPS, the focus on integrated technology rather than tech for tech’s sake felt refreshing. AV, lighting and digital layers are increasingly being treated as part of the design narrative itself, rather than simply an add-on.

Beyond the sessions, it was also inspiring to see the continued work of NOWIE – The Network of Women in Events CIC. Progress in any industry takes consistency, and it’s encouraging to see that commitment continuing to drive change.
